Know all Men by these presents that
I Jobe Mcname of the town of portland
county of washington and teritory of Oregon
grocery ceeper [keeper] for and in consideration of the
sum of six hundred dollars to mee in hand
paid by thomas stephens of the teritory and county
above written The Receipt whereof is Here By
acknowledged) Have Bargained Sould and
delivered, and By these presents do bargain
sell and deliver to the s[ai]d Thos. stephens one
lot No [blank] In Block No [blank] In the town
of portland aforesaid Together with one house
and Bolling ally on sd lot with all the
Appertainances there unto Belonging to have
and to hold the sd Primaces [premises] with all the
appertainances there unto belonging To the
sd Thomas Stephens, his Executors administrators
and assigns To his and thare own proper use
and Benefit for Ever In witness where of
I have here unto set My hand and Seal
this 25 day of october 1849

The conditions of the above Bill of sale
is such that if the sd above Bound Jobe
Mc nemee His heirs Executors or administrators
or any of Them shall and do well and truly pay
or cause to Be paid unto the sd Thomas
stephens his heirs or Executors or administrators
and asigns The sum of six hundred dollars with
ten per cen[t] per anum from date It Being the
amount of a note gave to the sd stephens of
Halcomb [Holcomb, now Clackamas Co.] Baring the folowing Date san francisco
August 16th 1849 and Due twelve months from
the above Date and to Be paid in gold Or Silver
with the sd 10 per cent Intrust [interest] and without
Defalcation Then this obligation to Be Nul and
void otherwise to Remain In full force and
virtue in law
