INTRODUCTION TO MT. OLIVE LUTHERAN CEMETERY.

Directions: As you go west of Forest Grove toward the town of Dilly , turn right onto the “old” highway 47. The cemetery is located about 2 miles up the highway on your left.
 

MT. OLIVE LUTHERAN CHURCH

Established in 1902 as a private cemetery for the Dethlef’s family. The Dethlef’s were members of “Segher’s German Lutheran church west of Forest Grove. In 1930 the Dethlef’s family gave the cemetery and grounds to the “new” Mt. Olive Lutheran church in Forest Grove. Members of the “Segher’s” congregation transferred their membership to Mt. Olive. The Segher’s church building was torn down and the salvageable lumber from the old church was used to build on to the Mt. Olive church location. This cemetery is still in use, and lovingly kept by the members of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church.
