seem to be 1) Belle Passi, 2) St. Luke, 3) Auroa (IOOF), 4) Hubbard, 5)
McLaren (I think this is for the persons sentenced to McLaren) and 6) Old
Colony Cemetary. I'm also curious as to your Barnes name as I had a g-g-grandmother

William H. Knower (Jan 1830, Boston, MA - 12 Apr 1909, OR) m Mary Emeline
Elliott (15 May 1831, Bangor, ME - 15 Jul 1910, OR). They had a son William
and a daugther Susan E.
'Susie' had a child whom she named William E. Knower on 24 Dec 1887
and who d 26 Aug 1964. Presumably all in OR. This was evidently out of
wedlock. William E. m Alma A., b 16 Dec 1894, d 23 Jan 1986. Susie later
married Josiah Whipple De Lap, my grand uncle. 'Joe' was b 28 Feb 1865,
Franklin, Vernon Co., WI, d 19 Aug 1944, Salem, Marion Co., OR, but I think
he was still living near Oak Grove in Polk Co at the time of his death.
Possibly he died in the Salem hospital. This couple had no issue. But Susie's
son inherited the place and I would like to make contact with any descendants,
if any survive.
Incidentally I have a Hiram De Lap bible that contains a family sheet
taken from an earlier bible or source that shows the Elliott family. Mary
Emeline was the youngest of five children b 1819 -1831. Her father was

Surname: ANDERSON, NELSON
I am looking for information about HAROLD ANDERSON, who at one point allegedly
lived in Silverton (Marion County).
I am researching a lost ancestor, ABRAHAM NELSON and found a note in
some old family documentation which states Abraham had a grandson, Harold
Anderson of Silverton. Abraham was born around 1855 in Telemark, Norway,
immigrated to Iowa, and later lived in Minneapolis, MN for a few years
at least. He married Nora Nelson (?) and had one child that I am aware
of. Her name was Emilia Amanda, and she was born 23 Oct 1889 in Minneapolis.
This line has just vanished into thin air, so any help is greatly welcomed!

was named as a kind of joke from the new president at the time, about 1878,
Rutherford B. Hayes (Rep). There was a gathering at the church and someone
asked what the little settlement was called and there was 1 Democrat and
the rest Republican and that was the joke. Hayesville is now just an area

a grandson. A family bible records the death of 'Harry' Fennell on December
24, 1937. In 1920 Joseph was enumerated in Polk County, West Salem, age
79, with wife Lavina, age 79, but his death is recorded on December 5,

family living with my family. The people are:
Nott, Ephriam
Elizabeth
John
Addie
Hattie
Enayrd
Enoch
Mary
Claud
Cora
They all appear to have the same last name. This census lists height
and weight instead of birthdates, but I believe that the first 4 on the
list are adult couples. The rest would be children of the second couple,
John and Addie Nott. Can anyone prove or disprove my theory? Thanks.

I don't think this is the same line. They may have come on the same wagon
train West, though in 1846. James Smith b. 1795 from York Co. PA had children
Jennings, Simon, Solomon b. 1835 m. Jemina Taylor and Mary Ann b. 1839
m. 6 Nov. 1851 in Silverton, Marion Co., Oregon to Albert G. Davis b. 1828
from Belmont Co. Ohio. James Smith and Albert G. Davis' grandfather Marmaduke
S. Davis(ies) were both born in the same year 1795 and from the same county
in PA. Marmaduke moved the family (including Albert's father Joshua Forrest
Davis) to Ohio in 1809 after the American Revolution inwhich he was a soldier.
Some coincidences here or was there a plan? Your Smiths ended up in another
county. Source is Down, H. 1926. History of Silverton Country. Berncliff

DORSEY

1999
Surname: DORSEY, WEST
I am trying to locate information on my 2nd great grandaunt, Rosilla Ann
(West) Dorsey.
In Pickens Co., Georgia Heritage 1853-1998, on page192 under the John
Henry Dorsey family. Joshua Denny son of John Henry Dorsey b.1-16-1816,
d.4-16-1904 and Sarah Denny. Joshua was b.3-16-1839 in S.C. married Rosilla
West b.1843.
Joshua Denny Dorsey was the Pickens County, GA, Probate Court appointed
executor of Rosilla's fathers estate in 1862. Folklore passed down in the
West family by Rosilla's sisters and brother claim Joshua and Rosilla moved
out to Oregon shortly after the Civil War ended.
Rosilla's parents, Eber and Elizabeth (Rippy) West, both died of smallpox
in 1862, within weeks of each other. This left 4 young orphaned children
(3 girls and 1 boy) who migrated to Texas with another older sister, Roxanna
(West) Reed around 1869. After Rosilla or Joshua left Georgia the West
children never heard from them again.
I have been trying to track them for several months to no avail. Recently,
I received information from a great grandchild of Joshua Denny Dorsey that
her great grandfather died in Salem, Oregon and had a wife named Rosilla
West. This is all the information I have.
Any information (census information, death information, where they might
be buried, issue, etc.) about Joshua Denny and Rosilla Ann (West) Dorsey
will be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for descendants of David Falconer and Mary Brown. They came
to Kelso, North Dakota in 1878 from Bruce County, Ontario, Canada and stayed
until November of 1889, when they left for Sacramento, California.
Their children, all born in Ontario, were, George born 1853, Ellen
Stenson born 1858, married Deforrest Conant, Mary born 1858, married Charles
Conant, Janet born 1860, married William Scott, Margaret born 1864, married
John H. Johnson, David born 1867 and John Wilson born 1870.
(David and John Wilson were last recorded in Salem, Marion, Oregon
no date.) We have the line of Ellen and Deforrest Conant. They moved back
into Canada. Their descendants are found in BC and Alberta.
We would be very interested in any information in regards to the descendants
of any of the other children. We have not found where David and Mary eventually
went. David is one of ten children of George Falconer and Janet Redpath.
The Redpath name is found frequently among the other branches and may
also be found in David's family.
All information and inquiries welcome.

I am looking for Charles M. Williamson and Etta May (Williamson)Carroll.
They were listed as living in Salem, Oregon in the last will and testament
of Chester Williamson (Neponsit, Bureau, Illinois) written on 06 Feb 1899.
Charles and Etta May were the children of LaFayette (deceased prior to
06 Feb 1899) and Mary E. (Benson) Williamson-Holcomb(I found out that LaFayette
and Mary were divorced in Marion County, Oregon in 1882).
In the proof of heirship hearings on 27 June 1910 in Bureau County,
Etta May is listed as deceased, and that the share of the estate is to
go to "and the surviving husband of Etta May Williamson, deceased, a granddaughter,
whose name is unknown." I just found out that Etta may married a Carroll.
Does anyone have any information on the child that was mentioned on Chester
Williamson's last will and testament? I would really like to connect with

Karen-
I have an unusual connection at best, but here it goes:
My second great grandmother's [Lovina (Franklin) Sherman], siblings
in their treks west [mostly from Cattaraugus county, New York] had several
members become residents of Marion county, Oregon. Mostly in Woodburn,
but even of those, I believe some were in Eugene or Salem at one point
as well.
One was Lovina's brother Ichabod W. Franklin who ended up in Woodburn
with his wife, son and daughter.
Also Lovina's neices [daughters of her brother Andrew Jackson Franklin],
Addie Franklin, and Grace Beaman, ended up in Woodburn as well.
Lovina's eldest sister Sophia Ridout also had children who ended up
in Woodburn: Sophia's daughter Adelia (Ridout) Franklin, and her sons Charles
and William. There may have been a few others, and then there's Eveline
(b.1847), Sophia's daughter, who married Lansing Sykes, and I know that
they were in Waubay, South Dakota at one point, as was Lovina's brother
Andrew. So while I do not have information about Lansing and Eveline Sykes
moving on to Marion county, I do know that they had plenty of uncles, aunts,
cousins, and siblings already there!
I have that Lansing and Eveline had a son DeHart, born 1868, but that
is all I have on their children to date.
If you have seen Lansing and Eveline in Marion county, I would love
to know!

rest just comes from the "Kimsey and Kimsey" book and a few issues of a
Kimsey newsletter. My McCracken records go back to James McCracken and
Mary Smith, grandparents of Christopher.
Terzah and Christopher had a common set of grandparents: James Simpson
and Elizabeth Kimsey. Christopher's mother was Effariah Elizabeth Simpson
and Tirzah's mother was Macy Simpson, sisters.

I understand the McCracken Bible Record was or is in possession of Ruth

Some of the girls married the following, LEEDS/HALL/HOUGH/GOBLE . It
seems that most of the children stayed around the Scott Mills area. Sampson

ROBY are listed in the Marion County 1870 census. The census sheet shows
that they had nine children at that time and all were born in Oregon. Their
daughter, Varena, age 7 in 1870 is my Great Grandmother. I have been told
that her father, Reason ROBY, died between 1870 and 1880 in the gold fields
of Oregon. I have also been told that my Great Grandmother Eleanor FARENDS
(sp?) ROBY first was married to a John RIGGINS who ran a wagon train from
Missouri to Prescott Washington and then later married Reason ROBY. The
town of Riggins in Idaho is named for John's brother Richard (Dick). The
ROBY and FARENDS side of the family have been very difficult to trace and
I am hoping you might be able to lead me to sources in Oregon that can
fill in the blanks on this side of the family. I do both family history
