ADAMS, FELLOWS.  I am searching for descendants of John/Jonathan and Margaret Ellen ADAMS who migrated to Eugene area from Wisconsin in 1901.  I know they are still there in Lane County as I visited cousins Jesse and Ted ADAMS (brothers) in 1985 and have a copy of the "story" written by another brother, George ADAMS, back in the 1960's.  John and Margaret ADAMS are buried at Mulkey Cemetery.  I have extensive information about them and the greater ADAMS family who originated in Greene County, PA in the early 1800s.  John and Margaret moved first to Marshall County, West Virginia and then to Clark County, Wisconsin.  I am of their son, Charles Lindsay ADAMS, who landed in Seattle when the rest of the family went to Eugene.  John ADAMS descends from Archibald H. and Catherine ADAMS, both b. 1806.  Other children include Jacob, Charles b. 1828, William H. b. 1828, Henry Porter b. 1840 and possibly Eleanor.  I am in contact with cousins descended from Charles and I am also directly descended from William H. ADAMS.  William's daughter, Hannah Nancy ADAMS married Charles Lindsay ADAMS.  I am looking forward to hearing from one or more of those whom we refer to up here as "The Oregon Adamses."  I have some ADAMS family information on my home page at Descendants of Archibald H. and Catherine Adams of Greene County, Pennsylvania if you want to sneak a peek before you contact me.  Jan Slater Sun Feb 6 13:41:40 2000

HAYWARD.  Then on 16 Oct 1930 in the Allen Maternity Home in Reno, Washoe Co., Nevada, David Burton EVANS was born.  His mother's age was listed as 17 years and father was 26.  His mother's birthplace was listed as Ohio and his dad's is Canada.  David Burton EVAN's half-sister has asked me to help her locate any female blood relatives of his mother to get DNA and thus have positive identification of his remains.  This is what she was told by the Veterans Administration.  Does anyone know of sisters or nieces of Audrey or who Elaine M. HAYWARD (the witness at the wedding) is or her relatives? Myrna Merriman Thu Sep 20 01:37:17 2001

HEATH, COLLEY, CEARLEY, MINTON, LONG.  Looking for long-lost cousins:  I am seeking the descendants of Roby HEATH (1899-1969) and wife, Rosa Ellen COLLEY (1895-1984) who lived in the Eugene/Springfield area of Lane Co., OR.  Rosa was originally from Washington Co., VA, and was a sister of my great-grandfather.  I have only two clues:  (1) a 1982 clipping from the "Springfield News," which shows a photo of 5 generations--Rosa HEATH (age 86), Ruth CEARLEY, Sharon MINTON, Lisa LONG, and Amber LONG (infant); and (2) Rosa had a brother, Joseph COLLEY, a WWI veteran, who married a lady named "Elsie".  Joe and Elsie lived in the Medford area of Jackson County.  If anyone has information on these individuals, please send an e-mail to their "east-coast cousin."  Thanks in advance.  Kim Hagy Sat Apr 24 08:57:44 1999

Ray LEMLEY and remained in contact with the Renner family in West Virginia.  Any suggestions?  Rebecca Snyder Bromley Mon Jul 21 05:57:00 1997

McFALL, McQUEEN, HOWELL.  I am seeking information regarding the McFALL, McQUEEN and HOWELL families who lived 1870- in Lane County.  Mary C. McFALL, a widow, married Stephen HOWELL at her home in Lane Co. on 31 Aug 1873. Austin HOWELL, son of Stephen, married S. Jane McFALL, daughter of Mary C. McFALL at her home on 31 Aug 1873.  G. H. McQUEEN attested that he knew Austin and S. J. -- his son Frank calls himself a cousin of S. Jane McFALL HOWELL.

I find no McFALLs in Lane Co. 1870 census.  G. H. McQueen is there.  Mary C. McFALL is widow of Samuel T. McFALL who died before 1873, probabaly in Harrison Co. MO.  I assume at this time that William Benjamin McFALL, George McFALL, Sarah/Susan McFALL are siblings of S. Jane McFALL. William McFALL is in Spokane Co. WA Territory by 1877.  A letter dated 1894 from Frank McQUEEN to S. Jane McFALL HOWELL states that "your mother is going back with Billy (William McFALL) and Calista (his wife)," but I can't find Mary C. McFALL HOWELL under either surname in WA Territory between 1883-89.  Nancie Howell Willey Wed Jul 2 22:14:44 1997

MOSHER, REEMSNYDER, DEWITT.  I am looking for information regarding the MOSHER family that lived in Eugene from at least 1900 to 1972. Samuel R. MOSHER (b. 20 Jan 1876 d. 22 Apr 1959 Eugene, Oregon; sp: Edith _____ (b. 10 Feb 1889 d. Jul 1979 Florence, Oregon) migrated from eastern Nebraska, presumably Lincoln, around 1900.  Sam may have been accompanied by his parents--Marquis (Marcus) Joseph MOSHER and Harriet L. (REEMSNYDER) MOSHER.  We have not been able to locate any death or burial records for Sam's parents in Nebraska so our best guess is that Marquis and Harriet moved to, and died, in Oregon.  Within a couple of years, Sam's brother (Hiram Garfield MOSHER) and family had also made the trek to Oregon from Nebraska.  Hiram and Elnora (DEWITT) MOSHER had at least two children in Eugene: Dewitt Charles (1904) and Frank Leonard (1905). Hiram and family returned to Lincoln, Nebraska in the early 1910s by way of San Bernadino, California.

We know that Samuel and his wife Edith had no children, but that she had several nieces and nephews.  We'd like to make contact with these relatives-by-marriage if possible.  Edith, who was a specialist in lingustics (it may have been anthropological linguistics) and taught at the University in Eugene, is known to have kept a lot of records regarding the Mosher family.  She also published several books within her professional field of study.  We also know that Samuel was a 33rd Degree Mason.  He was honored near the end of his life (mid to late 1950s) for having been a 33rd Degree Mason for 33 years with a lavish celebration in Eugene that the actor Harold Lloyd supposedly attended.  We would love to know more about this event, if possible.  Anne Mosher Fri May 26 13:16:20 2000

OLSEN/OLSON; BACKLUND/BOCKLAN.   I am searching form information on the OLSEN/OLSON BACKLUND/BOCKLAN families of Minnesota and Oregon. Ole Thomas OLESON was born 9 Jul 1867 at Bournsberg, Sweden (according to death certificate).  He died 16 Feb 1949 at DeFuniak Springs, Walton County, Florida.  He grew up in Sweden and lived in Minnesota and Oregon.  He had a ½ sister, Lena PETERSON from his mother's second marriage.  I do not know who Lena married. Book on Minnesota says he was born at Dahlarm, Sweden.  He told his family that he grew up in the north near Lapland. He is buried in Cottage Grove, Lane County, Oregon by his first wife, Anna BACKLUND.  Anna was born at Elfdalen, Sweden 1871-72 and they married June 1889 in Pine City, Pine County, Minnesota.  First child born 1 Sep 1893 in Ogilvie, Minnesota other children born in Ogilvie 1894, 1897, 1900. One child born in Cohaset in 1902.  Son born in Comstock, Oregon in 1913.  All children settled in Oregon.  Anna Backlund died when the last son was quite young, possibly 1920.  I would like to know his parents' names and his birthplace.  Ole's father was a lumberman and he died in Sweden when Ole was a baby.  His mother then remarried (PETERSON?) in Sweden.  His mother died and his step-father remarried. In 1881, his step-father and his new wife brought their family to Kanabec County, Minnesota.  Ole Thomas was about 14 years old.   In Minnesota, Ole was a Republican and a member of the town and school board.  He was a logger and in 1893, he fought the fires in the northern part of Kanabec county. 1895 State Census for Kanabec County, Mora shows:  Ole T. WOOD.  I am searching for information.  John or Jonathon D. WOOD and Elizabeth came to Oregon about 1849 and settled in what was Yamhill, now Lane Co.  Their sons Israel and David A. accompanied them.  Their last known place of residence was the coastal district.  Where did he die?  Where is he buried?  William H. WOOD, son of John D., came to Oregon with wife Elizabeth TATUM or TATOM, and she died here in 1859.  What was the date?  Where is she buried?  If you come across the descendants of Israel or David, please tell them I'm looking for them.  Mike Wood Thu Jan 08 20:21:57 1998

WOODARD, FOX, ULMER, SUMMER.  I am interested in tracing my family history in Cottage Grove but am a complete novice and have limited knowledge of the ancestry.  My mother was Shirley Ann FOX, maiden name WOODARD.  Her parents were John WOODARD and Geraldine ULMER (married in the 1920's).  My aunt, Madeline SUMMER, still lives in Cottage Grove.   John WOODARD's brother--don't know the name--owned the Village Green Hotel(?).   I live in Laguna Beach, CA. He is buried in the Franklin Cemetery.  Any information on either William H. WOODIN or Elsie (COOK) WOODIN would be greatly appreciated.  Janice Speer Wed May 16 19:18:09 2001

WOOSLEY.  I am seeking information on the WOOSLEY family of Florence, Oregon.  Francis M. WOOSLEY (my grandfather) was born in West Virginia and migrated to this part of part of Oregon, with his brother's Alonzo, Samual and one other.  They show up in the census records of 1920.  He eventually moved to Coquille, Oregon, Coos County.  I understand there are family reunions that are still held in Florence.   Any information or contact would be appreciated.  Melody Nielsen Wed Apr 05 16:07:20 2000

WRIGHT, BAILEY, MATLOCK, WEAVER.  Elizabeth and Jackson WRIGHT are my husband's ancestors.  Elizabeth was born in Clay Co., Kentucky in 1826 and Jackson was born in Spencer Co., Indiana in 1820.  They married in Benton Co., Oregon in 1851 and are in the 1860 census of Douglas Co., Oregon.  I would like to know if they are in the census earlier in Lane County? Jackson had children before Elizabeth BAILEY and I would like to know who his first wife was?  Elizabeth MATLOCK m. a Jackson WRIGHT b. in MO and they also came to Douglas County but they are not our relatives like we thought, since our Jackson was born in Indiana.  Elizabeth had a daughter named Jane Angelina BAILEY born 1848/ 1849.  Did Elizabeth have another daughter named Sarah Ann BAILEY born 1845?  Jackson WRIGHT is in presence at his daughter's wedding named Harriet in 1859 in Douglas County and for Sarah's wedding, too, the same day.  Harriet and Sarah both marry WEAVER cousins.  I was wondering if Sarah and Harriet are step daughters?  If not, is Sarah Ezekiel's daughter or one of the other BAILEY relatives' daughters who came to Douglas County, too? Jackson has two sisters, one is Elizabeth who m. John BAILEY, and another is Nancy who m.'s Ezekiel BAILEY.  There are so many puzzles to this genealogy.  If anyone knows more about the above, I would sure like hearing from you.  Peace to America, Carol Wright Thu Jul 25 11:48:24 2002
