Ruby Drew
Ruby M. Drew of Prineville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2005, at the Carriage House in Prineville. She was 90 years old.
   There will be a public viewing on Friday, November 18, 2005 at Prineville Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m.
   Graveside services will be at Juniper Haven Cemetery at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2005. Pastor Willard Fenderson will officiate.
   Ruby was born on May 12, 1915, in Prineville, Oregon, the daughter of Charles Clay and Mary Jane (Smith) Birdsong, pioneers of Crook County. She was raised and educated in Prineville, and graduated from Prineville High School in 1933.
   Then she moved to the Mitchell area, and ranched for five years. She then went to a fishing resort on the Sacramento River for three years. After that, she lived in Los Angeles for four years, and then to Portland, where she started working in the credit department at Meier & Frank for 16 years. She returned to Prineville and has been here since 1977. Her hobbies included homemaking, gardening, reading history, cooking, and sewing.
   She was a member of the Prineville Elks Lodge, Ladies of the Elks, and she was a volunteer of the Crook Co. Historical Society at Bowman Museum. She enjoyed music and played the guitar, banjo and fiddle. She is survived by her brother Charles Birdsong of Troutdale, Oregon, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, and three brothers.
