Mrs. Miller Dies from Burns Received in Fire

Funeral services for Ethel Marie Miller, 69 of Prineville, were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Prineville 
Funeral Home.  Mrs. Miller died Friday after receiving extensive burns.

An invalid, Mrs. Miller received the severe burns when the chair she was sitting in at home caught fire 
Friday afternoon.

She was taken to the hospital by Prineville Ambulance about 1 pm with first and second-degree burns 
covering about 80 percent of her body.

Mrs. Miller apparently was smoking when the fire broke out.  It was reported to firemen by her husband.

She was born Jan. 12, 1905, in Kentucky.  At the age of 14 she came to eastern Oregon with her family.  
On Sept. 3, 1937, she married Glen Miller in Prineville.  They lived in the Mitchell area and operated 
the Tony ranch until moving to Prineville in 1952.

Mrs. MIller is survived by her husband, Glen, two sons, Jack of Milwaukie and Glen, Jr., of Prineville:
her mother, Mrs. Nancy Jones of Prineville; two brothers, Hilmer Jones of Prineville alfalfa; and two 
sisters, Vena Martin of Prineville and Verna Martin of John Day.

Rev. Ralph Walker, minister of the MIssionaly Baptist Church, will officiate at the service.  Interment 
was in Juniper Haven Cemetery.
