Eli Williams, a well known pioneer of this state, died here this morning. Mr. Williams was born in Ohio in 1846, and crossed
the plains with his parents to Oregon in 1852. The family settled at Portland. In 1883 Mr. Williams moved to Eastern Clackamas
County, where the town of Estacada is now located. He purchased a farm and remained there until 1898, when he was the choice of
the Republican county convention for Assessor, in which office he served four years. He leaves a widow and the following
children: Dr. Arthur H., of Halfway, Or.; Mrs. Myrtle Tilson, of Salem; Lloyd, of Oregon City; Mrs. Iva Leroy, of Portland;
