| Johanna Weddeler, a pioneer, died at her home in Damascus, Clackamas County,
a few days ago at the age of 71 years. She was
married to Christian Weddeler in Germany, and came to Oregon 35 years ago. They
settled on a farm near Damascus soon after
reaching Oregon, where they remained for 30 years. She was known
as "Grandma" Weddeler
by the neighbors. Mrs. Weddeler was a
woman of unusual physical endurance, often walking to Boring a distance of three
miles from her home and then taking the train
for Gresham, returning the same day. The funeral was held at the Union Church
of Damascus. Rev. F. H. Fuend conducted the
services. Mrs. Weddeler is survived by her husband, 77 years of age, who was
too feeble to attend the services. |
