Marion Samson, pioneer of Clackamas county, whose home is at Needy, died at a
Portland hospital on Sunday evening, where he
was taken three weeks ago for medical treatment. He was sixty-seven years old.
Paul Samson, 29, only son of Mr. Samson, whose
home is also at Needy, died on Saturday afternoon, the day previous to his father,
his death being due to influenza, contracted
while at the bedside of the father. Miss Lola Samson, daughter of Marion Samson,
is also critically ill in Portland. |

Francis Marion Samson, farmer of Clackamas county, died Sunday,
February 19, at a Portland hospital following two weeks'
illness from bronchial pneumonia. His death occurred just one day
following that of his son, Paul Dickey Samson, who died at the
farm home near Needy, Or.
Interment of the two was at Rock Creek cemetery near Needy. A
double funeral was held. The Masonic lodge of Canby, Or., was
in charge.
The father, who was 66 years old was born near Needy, the son
of pioneer parents. He was married March 2, 1882, to Jane
Caufield Dickey of Molalla, Or. They located on a farm in Clackamas
county, eight miles east of Hubbard, where they lived until
the time of his death.
The son was 29 years of age. He was born on the farm of his parents
and had lived his entire life there. He was unmarried.
Both men were member of the Masonic lodge.
The two are survived by Mrs. Jane C. Samson, widow and mother,
and Lola Lorraine Samson, daughter and sister. |
