Funeral services were held here today for Joseph Jackson Newton, 84, Civil war veteran, who died at his home near here Friday.
Interment was in Russellville cemetery. Mr. Newton, who was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, in 1843, served with the 3d Iowa cavalry
during the civil war. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Idella C. Newton and two children, Edwin of California and Mrs. Bertha Hardy
of Molalla.
