Mrs. Alice Olevia Newkirk, widow of the late Eldridge Newkirk,
died at the family residence at Logan Saturday. Mrs. Newkirk was
born in Missouri May 18, 1851, and crossed the plains with her
parents when she was but six months of age. The family settled
in the
Tillamook country, where Mrs. Newkirk's marriage took place in
1868. The children surviving Mrs. Newkirk are the following: Mrs.
Olive Fisher of Loomis, Cal.; Leonard Newkirk of Milwaukie, Or.;
Mrs. Hettie David of Albany, Or.; Mrs. Mary Trotter of Portland;
Miss
Rhoda Newkirk, Mrs. Eva Riebhoff and Bird Newkirk of Logan.
The funeral services were held from the Logan church today. Interment
was in the Viola cemetery. |
