Mrs. Caroline Mattoon, 78, for 77 years a resident of Clackamas county, and the wife of W. H. Mattoon and one of the well known
residents of the county, died Thursday morning at her home at Viola.

Mrs. Mattoon was born at Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the mother of nine children, six of whom survive.

Surviving are the widower, W. H. Mattoon, Viola; his sons, Arthur L. Mattoon, of Springfield, Or., Frank A. Mattoon, of Oregon
City; John and Robert Mattoon of Viola; her daughters, Mrs. Edna Brown, of Albany, Or., and Mrs. Eva Brown, of Portland, and 14
grandchildren.

Funeral services are to be held Sunday morning at 11 o'clock at the Viola church. Rev. Mr. De Moy, of Estacada, will officiate.
Interment will be in the Viola cemetery.
