Charles David Latourette, 75, pioneer resident and ex-mayor of
Oregon City, and for 50 years a leading figure in legal,
political and financial circles of the state, died suddenly yesterday
at a downtown hotel.
Death occurred during the night, according to medical authorities,
and was due to a sudden attack of apoplexy. He was found
in his bed shortly after 1 p.m. yesterday.
Some 45 years ago he organized the First National Bank of Oregon
City, and retained an interest in it until his death. A son,
Mortimer D. Latourette, is now president of the bank.
He leaves a widow, Mrs. Sedonia Latourette, and four sons. Mortimer
and Earl C., a lawyer, reside in Oregon City. Two other
sons, J. R. and Howard F. Latourette, maintain a law firm in Portland.
