"Mrs. Mary La Forest Dies"
Oregon City, Or., Nov. 4

Mrs. Mary LaForest, who had lived in the same house on the corner of Twelfth and Washington streets since 1862, and who was a
personal friend of Dr. John McLoughlin, Oregon's pioneer missionary, died at her home here last night after an illness of five
years.

Mrs. LaForest was prominent during the early days of Oregon City. She was born in Germany in 1832 and came to this country
when a girl. Her husband, who died a number of years ago, was a prosperous business man here.

For the last 14 months Mrs. LaForest had been confined to her bed. Sunday night she suffered a stroke of paralysis and did
not regain consciousness.

Three sons survive her: Eugene LaForest, of Portland; Emil LaForest, of San Francisco, and Oscar LaForest, of California.
The late Mrs. Henry Meldrum was a daughter. The funeral will be held at 10:30 o'clock tomorrow morning and interment will be
made in the Mason's cemetery.
