"Man Who Crossed Plains in 1864 Dies of Cancer in Oregon City"

Oscar Barnes Jefferson, a well known resident of this city, died at the family home on Sixth and John Quincy Adams street,
from cancer.

He was born February 8, 1860, near Sabetha, Kan., and crossed the plains with his parents, William W. and Judith Ambrose
Jefferson, in 1864. He was the youngest of ten children. The family resided in Douglas County, where Mr. Jefferson married
Julia Wright, in 1888, and in 1896 came to Oregon City, where they have since made their home.

Deceased leaves a widow and the following children: Misses Ethel, Effie, Mary Cecil and Echo; Vane, William, Albert and
Alpha. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. M. C. Wells, of Portland, and a brother, Scott Jefferson, of Yoncalla, Or.; a niece, Mrs.
