Mrs. Susan L. Hughes, wife of Robert Hughes, a well-known resident of Oregon City, died at the family home today. She was 74
years of age.

Mrs. Hughes crossed the plains in 1854 with her parents, John and Christina Gillmore, who settled on a donation land claim
east of Salem, later moving to Salem, where she was married to Robert Hughes in 1870. Later they moved to Clackamas county.

Mrs. Hughes is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Kelly of Oregon City and Mrs. D. R. Hughes of San
Francisco, Cal. and a son, Edward Hughes of Metolias, Or.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
