E. V. Howard, pioneer of 1853, is reported to be at the point of
death at the home of his son, L. I. Howard at Molalla. He is
81 years old.
Mr. Howard has lived at Junction City the greater part of his
life in Oregon. He conducted the first store at Smithfield, in
Lane County, however, and built the Junction City flouring mills.
Mr. Howard has 13 children living. Seven of the daughters and
two sons are with him. They are: Mrs. J. W. Hedges, of San
Francisco; Mrs. C. W. Starr, Mrs. Nora Dixon, Mrs. Mable Baker,
Mrs. Dora Savern, Eugene; Mrs. Frank Meyers, Hood River; Mrs. G.
O. Powell, Portland; B. F. Howard, Eugene, and W. V. Howard, Portland. |
