Mrs. Phoebe Friel died at her home near Cherryville, on the Mount
Hood wagon road, February 13, from apoplexy. She suffered a
stroke three years ago and had never recovered. Besides her husband, J. T. Friel,
she is survived by the following children: Mrs. W.
R. Allen, Mrs. Glenn McIntyre, Mrs. R. C. Murray, Mrs. B. F. Hurt, Mrs. T. E.
Kirby, T. J. and Jerry Friel. Mrs. Kirby resides in
Portland, and the others near the old family home near Cherryville. |

Mrs. Phoebe Friel, who died at her home near Cherryville, February
13, was laid to rest in the Cherryville
Cemetery. She was born
November 3, 1846, at Centerville, Delaware, and was married to
John T. Friel, Sr., at Marcus Hook, Pa., December 29, 1864. They
lived
in Delaware until 1868, when they moved to Sioux City, Iowa. Here
they lived until 1906, when they came to their present home, near
Cherryville. Mrs. Friel was the mother of 10 children. She is survived
by her husband and seven children, John T. Friel, Jr., Jerry
S. Friel, Mrs. Viola M. Kirby, Mrs. Maggie G. Murry, Mrs. Eva R.
Hart, Mrs. Phoebe H. Allen and Mrs. Mabel A. McIntyre, all residing
in Oregon. |
