W. D. Adams, 93, a resident of the Molalla section for the past
64 years, died today at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. V.
Harless.
He was born in North Carolina, August 8, 1835, and later moved
to Knox county, Illinois, where in 1859 he married to Lucina
Loveridge. In 1865 they came to Oregon.
For 25 years Mr. Adams operated a farm near Molalla, later opened
a wagon and furniture store and an undertaking establishment in
Molalla.
Four children, George V. and Frank Adams and Mrs. Harless of
Molalla, and Mrs. Mary Hammond of Oregon City, 32 grandchildren
and 34
great-grandchildren survive. |

W. D. Adams, 93, who was the oldest living settler of this section,
died today at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. V. Harless.
Mr. Adams was born in North Carolina in 1835 and 30 years later in his natal
month of August arrived in Molalla with his bride, who
was Miss Lucian K. L. Loveridge of Illinois, where they were wed. For many years
Mr. Adams farmed near here. In 1890 he mixed the
furniture and undertaking business. He retired in 1909, lived in town for a time,
then with his daughter, Mrs. D. Ingalls, on the
farm till she died. Besides Mrs. Harless, there are surviving him two sons, G.
V. and Frank Adams of this city; a daughter, Mrs. Mary
Hammond of Oregon City; 32 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. |
