"Long-Time Residents of Oregon Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary"

Mr. and Mrs. George Spees, old Oregon residents, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home, 1315 East
Fifteenth street, last Sunday. It was just 50 years ago last Sunday that the two were married in Chicago. They came west on
their honeymoon and decided to stay in Oregon. As a consequence they took up a homestead in Clackamas county, just six miles

Among the guests at the anniversary celebration were Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Wolf. Mr. Wolf was a pioneer of 1862 and Mrs. Wolf, a
sister of Mrs. Spees. The Wolf family lived on a homestead in Clackamas county near Mr. and Mrs. Spees.

Mr. and Mrs. Spees left their homestead and came to Portland in 1919. They had been preceded four years by Mr. and Mrs. Wolf,
who lived at 967 Gantenbein avenue.

A dinner was served for the family, five married children, 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, at noon and a
reception in the evening was attended by many friends.

A musical programme was given by Miss Jessie Johnson and Emil Leitz and Henry Crocket, and a golden wedding poem was recited
by Miss Marguerite Spees, entitled "When Grandpa Was Grandma's Beau."
